Could someone please peel off the shrimp skin for me?

On a cold cloudy morning, my family and I wanted to go to Hamilton to visit our cousins, aunties, uncles, grandma and grandpa. "I can't wait to go to Hamilton again!" my sister and I exclaimed excitedly.
While we were going to Hamilton, my sister and I felt bored of listening to my mum and dad's conversation so we decided to play on our iPads. We were both playing a game called Farm heroes saga. I kept on losing the game because it was so confusing. Soon we arrived.
First, my cousin Kylie and I exercised before we played dodge ball. "Okay, run as hastily as a cheetah to the end of the deck and back five times," I said to her. Then it was my turn. I had to do it 12 times in high speed.
Then dinner was served. I ate some shrimps and mussels because it was one of my favourite sea foods to eat. The shrimp's skin was slimy which caused it to become hard and took a while to peel off. "Yum!" my cousin said. My grandma, grandpa, aunties, uncles, mum and dad were so busy laughing and chatting to each other so quickly that I couldn't hear a single word.
Once my cousins, sister and I had finished eating our foods, all of us playing dodge ball. The first tagger who had the ball was R.J. "Ah, I got hit!" I called out loudly. Then it was my turn. After I had a couple of tries, I threw a big hit towards my sister. "Yes," I said. My sister was great at targeting others.
It was an awesome time down in Hamilton because we got to eat seafood like shrimps, mussels and fish. We also got to play a lot of fun games. I hope we could go back to Hamilton again so that we could visit my cousins, aunties, uncles, grandpa and grandma again soon.

Have you heard of a young, talented girl named Tasha?

On a beautiful, sunny and hot afternoon, the whole school went to a Duffy assembly at 1:30.
We went to a clean room where no classes is held at the moment. Mrs. Dines put on a song called Duffy Kid. Some of us didn't remember the lyrics from last year and that's why we got a bit mixed up.
Meanwhile, a visitor came. Her name is Tasha. "Hello everybody!" she said loudly.
"Hi," we replied back. Tasha introduced herself by telling us how she got to become a singer and a lawyer. She also said that being a lawyer, also requires a lot of reading so we need to read a lot because in every job that we will do, we always need our reading skills and comprehension.
Then Tasha amazed us with her strong and extremely beautiful voice. When she sang to us Mama knows best, "Wow! her voice sounds incredible," everyone whispered. Tasha was bright and confident and she started singing when she was about 6 years old. When she was finished with her introduction, she gave a Duffy box which was filled with books to us.
What a blast! I had an awesome time getting to know Tasha and listening to her voice. Next time, I hope I could meet Tasha again and hear her fantastic singing voice.

I know I can do this when I use appropriate verbs and adjectives to describe Duffy assembly.

Finally, I now have new school shoes!

On Sunday, my family and I went to buy shoes, socks and food. In the morning, we changed into our outside clothing. Then we went to Botany Town Centre.
My mum wanted to go to Rebel Sports because my dad needed some socks. When we were inside, my sister and I knew it would be boring if we would stay with our parents to look for socks because it usually takes a while for them to find the perfect socks. Instead we went to go to the basketball corner where there was some basketballs. There were sizes that were too small and ones that were too big. After a while, my parents called us because we were leaving the store.
Then we walked to Number one shoes to get my sister and I some new shoes for school. We went to the school stock where there were lots of school shoes. My mum and dad saw some black shoes and we thought it would be fine for school so we got them.
After we bought the shoes, my parents thought that my sister and I needed food for school so we went to buy some food. We got a healthy amount of peanuts, frozen pizza, lasagne, some sausages and potato frozen fries. When we were queuing to pay for our grocery, I saw mentos and I felt like eating candy so I asked my parents if I could and they said, "Yes!"
I had a great and fun time at Botany Town Centre because my sister and I got to buy some new shoes and snacks for school.

Mmm, these brownies are so crunchy!

On Wednesday, our class room 7 had a shared lunch because we worked so hard this term. We all felt excited, happy and glad.

Ring, ring, ring! The bell rang and we began to open the containers that had the food. First we took a whole class photo, then we made funny faces and we yelled, "Beans!" Then we had another class photo and people wev rushing as rapidly as a cheetah to find a spot.

I was so happy because I couldn't wait to eat the delicious food! We each picked a person to choose their food. There was pizza, doughnuts, cupcakes, sushi, bananas, cake, brownies, bread, cookies and more! "This is soo... tasty!" I said with a smile. Our teacher gave us drumsticks, bread, and other foods. A while later, some of us were full and our tummies were about to burst.

Great job, Thea sisters!

This story is about Jan and the Thea sisters going on an adventure to find Jan’s father and the tulip bulb. While Nicky, Paulina and Colette were at Lisse, they found Jan’s father stuck in an underground passage. However, they were also trapped in there by Verbena and Iris. Pam was also there, but she wasn’t trapped because she wasn’t with them at the time. Pam saw a MousePad that belonged to Paulina so she took it with her so that she could give it back to Paulina. Then she saw a painting of a black tulip and the frame wasn’t straight so she went closer to it to straighten it. Click! The passage opened and Pam saw two red furry rodents in front of a large door.

She looked behind the door and she saw the shape of her friends and an older rodent. Pam took the mop that she had brought with her and put it on the stairs. The two red furry rodents were so busy talking to each other that they didn’t notice the mop in front of them so they slipped. Pam quickly took a fire hose to tie them up. She got the keys from one of the red furry rodents to unlock the door and set the Thea sisters and Jan’s father free. At Amsterdam, Violet and Jan tried to figure out where the tulip bulb was. When they went inside Jan’s house, they saw a painting that had a tulip bulb in the vase. They recognised that it was a painting of Vincent’s room.

So they all went to the greenhouse and Jan crouched down to Vincent’s doghouse and found a box. They opened it and saw the tulip bulb! Jan’s father Casper went back to Amsterdam with the Thea sisters to present his creation.

Woohoo! We tied with Pt. England!

On Wednesday, the year eights, sevens, fives and sixes from St. Patrick's School had a basketball tournament after school. Miss Chao told us to be at the Tamaki Recreation Centre straight away.
My sister and I were the first people of St. Patrick's School to be there. My dad lead my sister and I to the changing room so we could change into our P.E uniform. Once we were changed, he took our bags and our school uniform back to the car. He said that he will be back as rapidly as a cheetah because he had to go and pick up my mum so that she could come and watch the basketball tournament as well.
The basketball game was about to start so Miss Chao decided who was going to be substitutes and who was going to be first up. Siu, R.J, Rhonda, Rosary and Dhon were going to play first while Launoa, Glen and I were going to be the substitutes. I was feeling nervous because it was my first time that I am playing against Pt. England.
Beep! The game started and the basketball team was really focused because they were putting a lot of pressure on the other team. Then Dhon got the ball and ran as quickly as he could and shot a goal. After the teams got a few shots in, Glen, Launoa and I went to replace Rhonda, Rosary and Dhon. "Go Shannon!" my mum cheered out loudly. I felt that she was very supportive of me. Then the game continued.
Whistle! I tried to go as speedily as I could to get the ball from Pt England School. Miss Chao told us to be strong on them so that we can win. My feet was running quickly when I saw the basketball roll towards me. I grabbed it and bounced the ball. However I was trapped and so I didn't know what to do. So Pt. England took it away from me. Then someone from my team tried to get a shot in the hoop. A loud noise sounded and it signalled the end of the game. I was very proud and happy of myself and my team because we tied with Pt. England at the end.
I had an amazing time at the basketball tournament because we were focused on the ball. Next Wednesday, I hope we can win our games.

Yay! We now have a basketball hoop!

On Sunday, my family and I went to the Warehouse to get a basketball hoop. We had breakfast first before we went to get a basketball hop. Then we went to the Warehouse in the car.

When we went inside the store, we went to look for a basketball and a hoop straight away. When we saw the basketballs, we thought that they weren't pumped up properly however they were all beautiful. My dad chose a nicely pumped up ball because we didn't have any ball pump. Then we went to get a basketball hoop. My dad and mum saw a junior hoop and it was $80, we didn't know that it was a small one because it came in a huge box. "I have a feeling that hop is too small," I said. So my parents and my sister tried to find a bigger hoop as fast as they could. We found one that was big enough so we bought it.
Once we went out of the store, we went to the pizza shop and ordered a butter chicken flavoured pizza. The workers said that we could pick up the pizza in 20 minutes. We waited for my mum to get the pizza and then we headed back home. I ran as quickly as I could back to the house because I was so excited about playing with the basketball.
My favourite part was when we got the basketball and the hoop because my sister and I have always wanted to get a hoop. My family and I was so happy because this way we can exercise anytime we want. When my sister and I get better at playing basketball, we might get a higher basketball hoop.

We are learning to use and understand descriptive language in my writing.
I know I can do this when I use appropriate verbs, adjectives and similes to describe events and nouns.

Knock, Knock!

On Sunday, my family's friends came to Auckland to visit us. In the morning my and I had to do some maths activities before they came. Soon they arrived. "Vine, Shannon go upstairs and finish your maths", my dad said. "Okay!" my sister and I replied. On the way going upstairs, my sister ripped her page by accident as we were rushing to get to our room. We ran as swiftly as we could up the stairs.

When we arrived upstairs, my sister and I went to our parent's room to complete the work that our dad has set us. After that my sister started singing. "Stop, I can't concentrate and I bet you can't either", I said to her. "Okay fine!" she replied. When we were finished, we went to have a shower so we could change into our best clothes.

When we were all ready, we went downstairs and ate some food. As my sister and I ate the food we said, "Mmmm..." The food was delicious because it smelt and tasted so good. There was fried rice, steamed rice, fried meat, muffins, bananas and more.

After that, my sister and I played some games on the computer. We played a game called Agar.io and bad ice cream. Soon after, a visitor's son came and asked my sister and I, "Could I play?" he asked.
"Okay, you can play", we replied with a smile.
"Oh, I'm Notch and I am 7 years old", he said. So we played basketball together, we practised bouncing the ball as fast as we could. We also told funny jokes to each other. One of them was Knock knock? Who's there? Doughnut, doughnut who? Doughnut disturb!

That was a fun day because we played games and we made jokes. The food was especially delicious. Yum!

We are learning to understand and use descriptive language.
I know I can do this when I add suitable adjectives, similes and verbs to my weekend recount.

Ewww! The smoke smells disgusting!

On the last Friday of Term 2, the whole school went to the Aotea Centre. We went there by bus. People were really annoyed because they kept on talking. After a while on the bus, we arrived and inside the centre it was enormous. It felt as if we were going to meet a royal family. Then we all had to put our bags away in a little corner.
The teachers lead us to a room in the Auckland Town hall where we were going to watch a performance from the dance company. We had to wait for St. Therese to arrive so that we could watch the performance at the same time. After a while, the dance company started to dance. When they rolled up as small as a rat, I was frightened because it felt like they were going to turn into monsters when they started moving in slow motion. Their dance was amazing because they did their moves gracefully.
After they performed, the people did another performance but this time we had to focus on what kind of koru shape they formed during their dance. It was really difficult to see the shape of the koru because they were all moving very quickly.
Then after they were done, we exited out of the room. We took our bags and headed to the Aotea Centre. St. Therese went before us and when we arrived at the centre, we had to put our bags down together again in a spot. St. Therese went to do a different activity and we were making stories. A man told us that in a story, there is a beginning, middle and ending. Meanwhile, we thought of the story and it was about Goldilocks and the three bears. That was a lot of fun!
After that, we watched a different performance. It was funny because when the girl tried to get in the lime light, it kept on moving as if the light was running away. I didn't really understand the story because they spoke in Te Reo Maori. When the girl turned backwards, smoke came out from a machine and it was meant to be like passing gas. Some people were complaining about the smell of it. However, the people that were sitting on the top seats and I didn't get to smell it.
After the show, we went back to our school. I was happy because we got an opportunity to go on a trip with another school and see professional performances.

We are learning to use and understand descriptive language.
I know I can do this when I use appropriate adjectives, similes and verbs to describe events.

Mmmm, this burger is delicious!

On Sunday, my family and I went to the church, the beach, and Carl's Junior for some food. In the morning, it was 7:00am and after I woke up, I went downstairs to watch T.V. My sister followed me. We watched The Voice Kids battle rounds. The songs that they sang were Keep holding on, Billionaire, I can and more. By 9:50am, my family and I were all ready so we went off to St. Mark's church.

When we were there, there was hardly anyone inside. A few minutes later, mass began. The priest read the gospel. It was about faith. He said that faith can not be proven because some people don't believe in God. After the gospel was read, the priest blessed the bread and the wine. Then we all lined up and took the bread. Some of us were blessed and drank the wine.

After mass was finished, we went to Carl's Junior and ordered some drinks, fries and burgers. Then we went to the beach to have our food and explore the place. When I came out of the car, I was shivering and the wind blew straight at me. "It's freezing out here," I said shakingly. I saw a car and a dog came out. I felt frightened because it was a big dog. I walked as speedily as I could back to the car. "Here's you burger," my dad said. I ate it and it was delicious! My mum, dad and sister went back into the car as well because they were as cold as I was.

Then we went back home and took a rest. My family and I was happy because we had yummy burgers from Carl's Junior the beach, even though it was cold.

Are you an advanced guitar player?

On Sunday, my family and I went to Pakuranga Plaza so that we could buy a guitar. We went to a shop where there were musical instruments and where we could a guitar that is cheap for me.

When we were inside the music instrument shop, I felt excited because I couldn't wait to own a guitar. There were so many guitars to choose from. Then my family and I saw a red big guitar. I thought it was too big for me to play it. "Could we get a smaller guitar?" I asked. So we looked at the smaller ones. I looked as carefully as I could to see which guitar I liked. However, I changed my mind because I thought what the bigger one would be good for when I grow older. So we decided to get the big red guitar. We had to wait for the guitar to be tuned and for the string to be replaced.

"Where do we go while they are organising for the guitar to be ready?" my dad asked.
"Countdown!" my mum replied. We went inside the supermarket to get some groceries. When we were done, my mum said, "Let's eat."
"Okay, I'll have Burger King." my sister and I said. We proceeded to the food court and ordered fries, burger, ice cream, drinks and dumplings. We ate as swiftly as we could because the guitar mightn't been ready to be collected. After we ate we excitedly went straight back to the shop to pick up the red guitar.

My sister and I were happy to buy it because we've always wanted to learn how to play it. Today has been a pleasant day with my family. I wish we could spend more family time together like this.

Mum, dad, can we get a drone please?

On Saturday, my family and I went to Noel Leeming to get my grandma a present for her birthday. "What do you want to get for your grandma's birthday?" my mum asked.
"A phone! We remember that she wanted one." we said.
"I'll give her $50!" I said.
"Me too", said my sister. My parents got $50 from the bank and then we went to Noel Leeming.

When we were inside, my sister, dad, mum and I looked for a phone. "Look! I found a drone!" my dad said. We were surprised because we've never seen a drone before. My mum was focused on finding a phone so she wasn't interested in looking at the drone. There were so many phones and they were all really nice. Before long, we came across a HTC phone. We liked it so we decided to get it. It took a while for my mum to pay for the phone. Meanwhile, my sister and I thought about playing our favourite game Agar.io.

We both went to the laptops and typed in the word Agar.io. We found the game so started playing it. My sister and I were using different laptops so we didn't have to wait for each other. As I was getting bigger, but then someone ate me. To play Agar.io, you start as a small ball and you need to eat small dots to get bigger or eat other people's if they're smaller than you. Growing bigger was difficult for my sister and I because there were more people that were bigger than us.

After a while, my mum finished paying for the HTC phone and we went home for a rest. I felt happy because we bought a gift for my grandma and we got to play Agar.io. Next year, I hope I can get an even better gift for her on her birthday.
